Feedbacks and iterations

1) Why does the ecosystem need feedback loops

The iGaming ecosystem is a network of operators, studios/RGS, PSP/APM, KYC/AML, affiliates and analysts. Without controlled feedback loops, it accumulates technical debt, TTM rises and LTV falls. The goal is to turn data and signals from players/partners/infrastructure into quick, secure and verifiable changes.

Key effects: less time from hypothesis to outcome, reduced Cost-to-Serve, higher p95-stability, transparent decisions, and predicted P & L.

2) Frame: PDCA, OODA and Double-Loop

PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act): basic experiment and implementation cycle.
OODA (Observe-Orient-Decide-Act): reactivity to external changes (incidents, market).
Double-Loop Learning: Change not only the decisions, but also the rules/hypotheses on which they are based (for example, revising the attribution model or RG limits).

Practice: fix SLO/KPI, hypothesis, target delta and stop criterion on each cycle.

3) Signal sources (what we are listening to)

1. Players: conversion of steps (login → KYC → deposit → game), NPS/CSAT, session frequency, complaints.
2. Partners: uptime/latency, error rate, limits and degradation, SLA/credit performance.
3. Product/Content: Retention by Provider/Game, RTP/Volatility, Mission Engagement.
4. Payments and KYC: CR, authorization 3-DS, chargeback risk, KYC status speed.
5. Infrastructure: p95/p99 API, broker lag, hit-ratio caches, DR-flip-time.
6. Marketing/affiliates: FTD, share of campaigns in GGR, traffic quality, attribution disputes.

4) End-to-end telemetry and attribution

Single event model: 'click', 'session', 'deposit', 'bet/spin', 'kyc _ status', 'fraud _ signal', 'reward _ granted'.
Identifiers: 'playerId', 'sessionId', 'campaignId', 'partnerId' - without unnecessary PII (tokenization).
Trace correlation: 'trace-id' from click to payout/reward.
Attribution: "last optional touch" rule, windows by jurisdiction, coordination with finance/legal.
Signal availability: real-time showcases (materialized views) for product and SRE solutions.

5) Fast iteration mechanisms

1. Feature flags: on/off by region/channel/segment; instant rollback.
2. Rule-engine: declarative rules of offers/limits (country, APM, verified, risk-score).
3. Canary/Progressive delivery: portioned inclusion of changes, protection of error budget.
4. A/B/C experiments: single counting platform, stratification, guardrails metrics (safety/compliance).
5. Auto-dosing: traffic/offers by SLI partners (latency/errors/quotas).
6. Autoscale on SLO signals: p95, broker lag, queue depth, RPS.

6) Quality Management: SLI/SLO and Error Budget

SLI (service level): p95 login/deposit/bets/spin, KYC conversion, success of payments.
SLO (target): numerical thresholds (for example, deposit p95 ≤ 1.5 s, success ≥ 97%).
Error Budget: the share of "erroneous time" is the allowed zone for experiments.
Politicians: when spending the budget - stop new features, stability priority; in surplus - accelerated experiments.

7) Post-mortems and RCAs without a blame game

Format: event → timeline → hypothesis ledger → cause-effect relationships → measures.
Classics: 5 Why, Ishikawa; associate L3 (RTT/loss) with L7 (API/payments).
Output of artifacts: PRD changes, rule-engine rules, retray limits, Runbook/Playbook updates.
SLO loans/fines: transparent mechanisms for partners.

8) Feedback loops by role

Operator: Product KPI (FTD, D7/D30, LTV), Experience (p95), Cost-to-Serve; decides on features/offers.
Studio/RGS: retention/content engagement, stability of rounds, minimum delay of live video.
Payments/PSP/APM: CR by APM, authorization, chargeback risk, cut-over-time.
KYC/AML: stage speed, false positive, percentage of successful validations; impact on conversion.
Affiliates/media: traffic quality, LTV by source, brand safety compliance.
SRE/Infra: error budget, DR-readiness, disposal, headroom, savings.

9) Iteration rate and quality metrics

Speed: TTM feature, time from hypothesis to A/B, average duration of the experiment, proportion of canary releases.
Quality: percentage of "red" SLOs, average MTTR, incident rate per 1k depleys.
Economy: uplift FTD/ARPU/LTV from iterations, cost per rps/txn/stream, cost of delay.
Reliability: success of DR flips, share of releases without rollback, completeness of tracing.

10) Anti-patterns

Experiments "in the dark": no tracing, no single metric count.
Uncontrolled retrays: avalanche-like errors, duplicate transactions.
A single gateway without a horizontal scale: SPOF interferes with fast cycles.
Changes without feature flags: each fix = release.
SLO "on paper": thresholds are not associated with solutions (there is no stop button when overspending the budget).
Postmortem "with the search for the guilty": the signals fall silent, the speed of iterations drops.

11) Feedback Loop Implementation Checklist

1. Standardize events and trace correlation, establish a single catalog of metrics.
2. Define SLOs/error budgets for critical paths and partner integrations.
3. Expand the/rule-engine feature flags, describe the canary/progressive procedures.
4. Build A/B platform, agree counting methodology and guardrails.
5. Set up war-room and RCA rituals, postmortem and RACI templates.
6. Link metrics to P&L, start Cost-to-Serve and the economics of change.
7. Include DR/chaos exercises in a regular cycle, automate checks.
8. Enter "hypothesis ledger": hypothesis → experiment → result → next action.

12) Artifacts and patterns

SLO Sheet: goals p95/success by login/deposit/bet/back/KYC/PSP.
Experiment Brief (1-pager): hypothesis, metrics, segments, stop conditions, risks.
Rollout Plan: flags, traffic percentages, auto-rollback thresholds, communication.
Postmortem Template: Timeline, Causes, Measures, Owners, and Timelines.
Partner Scorecard: SLI/SLO, credits/penalties, audit/traceability availability.

13) Safety and compliance in iterations

Zero Trust: mTLS, S2S signature (JWS/HMAC), vendor zone microsegmentation, egress control.
Privacy: PII minimization, tokenization of identifiers, DPA/DPIA for data exchange.
RG circuit: experiments should not increase the risk of vulnerable groups; individual guardrails.

14) Maturity Roadmap

v1 (Foundation): basic events/metrics, manual post-mortems, feature flags.
v2 (Integrated): single A/B platform, canary/progressive, error budget and stop button.
v3 (Automated): auto-dosing by SLI, auto-scale by SLO, RCA-patterns in runbooks.
v4 (Networked Governance): inter-partner cycles, general SLO/credits, ML predictive hints.
